Silver Alert and Wandering Prevention

Silver Alert: Wandering Prevention

Silver Alert: What to Expect When a Loved One Wanders

Caring for a loved with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia is a 24/7 job. No matter how vigilant the care-partner, a person with Alzheimer’s can wander and become lost. Wandering happens with 60% of those living with dementia.
Alzheimer’s Tennessee volunteer advocates helped improve Tennessee’s response to wandering and lost seniors. Since the Volunteer State’s enhanced “Silver Alert System“ took effect in June of 2021 more than 70 lost adults have been reunited with their families.
During “Silver Alert Awareness Month.” Alzheimer’s Tennessee is offering a series of webinars to help caregivers learn about the Silver Alert System and prepare in case a loved one wanders.
