More Workshops Coming Soon to Communities Across Tennessee:

Tuesday, Sept. 17   Johnson City Workshop, Boones Creek Christian Church, 2684 Boones Creek Rd.

Caring & Coping Caregiver Workshops are designed by Alzheimer’s Tennessee to help the community better care for those with Alzheimer’s disease. Participants learn skills and strategies to cope with the challenges of caregiving for dementia.  Sessions feature various keynote speakers who are nationally-renowned and/or local experts in the field.

Both family and professional caregivers will find ongoing support and leave each session with the following:

  • Knowledge about important legal issues surrounding elder care, including how to prepare your affairs to help care
  • A better understanding of dementia, how it progresses, and available treatments
  • Care strategies proven to work for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, as well as tips to help caregivers take better care of themselves

Sessions typically start in the morning and end in the afternoon.  They will cover a variety of topics including an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, practical tips for caregiving and personal care, and legal issues.

The training will include all handouts. Some Workshops are free due to the generosity of our sponsors. Some come with modest fees, typically $25 for family care partners and $45 for professional caregivers (professional fee often includes CEUs for administrators of residential homes for the aged as well as assisted living facilities).

The caregiver workshops are offered online or in person throughout Tennessee.  These educational events provide valuable and practical training for family care partners, volunteers and professional care providers who provide support for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia.
